On March 10, 2025, thunderous applause rang out at Guizhou Delong Electrical Group Co., Ltd.'s production base in Guizhou Province when the last 22kV oil-filled transformer was lifted and securely installed in the container. A batch of 13 pieces of critical electrical equipment was officially loaded onto transport and set off to travel along the land cross-border corridor to the capital of Laos, Van Xan.
“This is Delong Electric's first major order in the Lao market and is an important step for the company to deepen its presence in Southeast Asia,” said Guizhou Delong Electric Group's head of international business. All 13 oil-immersed transformers in this batch are designed and manufactured in accordance with international IEC standards, have a rated voltage of 22 kV and feature low loss, low noise and high short-circuiting capacity, which is especially suitable for the climate conditions of Laos, characterized by high temperatures, high humidity and frequent thunderstorms during the rainy season. Taking into account the operating conditions of the local power grid, the technical team made a number of improvements to the insulation system, cooling system design and sealing technology to ensure stable operation of the equipment in conditions where the average annual temperature exceeds 28 °C and humidity exceeds 80% year-round.
The supplied equipment will be used in projects to modernize and upgrade distribution networks in the city of Wanxiang and its surrounding areas. Against the backdrop of the rapid economic and social development of Laos, in Wanxiang, which is the political and economic center of the country, the load on the power grid is constantly growing, and problems associated with high energy consumption and frequent outages of old transformers are becoming increasingly pressing. Once put into operation, this batch of high-efficiency energy-saving oil-filled transformers supplied by Delong Electric will effectively reduce power line losses and improve power supply reliability, providing local residents and businesses with a more stable power supply.
Almost 3 months passed from signing the contract to delivery of products. The various divisions of Guizhou Delong Electrical Group LLC - production, quality control and logistics - worked closely together, strictly adhering to a quality management system that ensures "traceability of the entire production process." Before leaving the factory, each transformer undergoes a full range of type tests, including no-load loss, load loss, inductive voltage testing and lightning stress testing, as well as re-testing by an independent testing organization to ensure that “every transformer is tested and reliable”.
“The details of a product determine its international reputation,” a production manager told reporters. In order to meet the customer's special requirements for anti-corrosion coating of the oil tank surface, the coating line has specially adjusted the process parameters: using double-layer epoxy coating with a polyurethane finishing layer, and the salt spray test time has exceeded 500 hours, far exceeding the normal standards.
At present, cooperation between China and Laos in the field of electricity is constantly strengthening. The safe and stable operation of the China-Laos Railway has continued for more than three years, which has stimulated demand for the upgrading of power generation facilities along the line; The China-Laos Electricity Standards Cooperation Committee was also formally established, removing technical barriers to the export of Chinese electrical equipment to Laos. Delong Electric's successful delivery of products is a clear example of Guizhou SMEs seizing opportunities and actively "going global" in this context.
“We hope that this batch of transformers will become not just a product, but the embodiment of the brand promise of Guizhou Delong Electrical Group LLC,” said the chairman of the board of Guizhou Delong Electrical Group LLC at the shipment ceremony. He added that in the future, the company will continue to increase investment in research and development, relying on the advantages of Guizhou Province's machinery industry cluster, and will participate in the construction of power grids in Laos and other Southeast Asian countries with better products and services, so that Delong's electrical equipment will illuminate even more countries along the Belt and Road.
It is learned that this consignment is expected to be exported through the Mohan border post and will arrive in Wanxiang by land in about 8-10 days. Delong Electric has already dispatched an after-sales service team, which set out along with the cargo and will be responsible for supervising the installation and commissioning on site, as well as providing technical training to local personnel for operation and maintenance.
