American type cable branch cabinet is a characteristic cable connection device in power distribution systems. Its design concept originated in North America and is now also widely used in industrial parks, shopping malls and densely populated urban areas in China.
It is mainly used at the junction points of 10 kV or 12 kV cable systems for branching or transiting power from the main cable. Compared to European type branch cabinets, the American type has significant differences in design form, connection method and operational flexibility. This is a fully insulated, fully sealed, fully shielded electrical equipment for outdoor installation.
Main Features
1.Compact design, one-way door opening
The American branch cabinet usually has a one-way door design, inside which a horizontal multi-pass busbar (T-Connector) is used as a connecting base. This arrangement makes it possible to reduce the width of the housing and the occupied space, which makes it very convenient for installation on narrow city streets or in green areas.
2.Plug type connection, flexible operation
This is the most distinctive feature of American branch cabinets. Branch circuits typically use plug-type cable connectors (eg angle lugs) to allow connection and disconnection under certain conditions (eg load switch). This design greatly increases maintenance and troubleshooting flexibility by allowing a branch line to be isolated without removing power from the main circuit.
3.Full insulation and tightness, safety and reliability
All live parts inside the housing are covered with high-quality insulating material (for example, silicone rubber), there are no exposed live parts. The degree of protection is usually high (reaches IP67), dust protection, moisture protection, flood protection, and corrosion resistance are provided. The cabinet can operate for short periods of time submerged, making it very suitable for harsh outdoor installations.
